Review: Coghlans Emergency Stove

Let me start by saying that this is the most portable and versatile stove I have in my bug out bag. In my first try it boiled water in less than ten minutes with only one tablet. I was able to cook a Ramen pack of soup and it boiled the water perfectly. The tablet started burning with just one match and I didn't notice any foul smells coming from it.

The first time you use this stove you will notice the paint around the tablet will peel off, this is normal and I recommend to burn one tablet without cooking to get rid of this small problem. Use this stove with caution as it can cause a fire so try using it outside. One of the great things about this stove is that you can use different types of fuel Sterno, Hexamine, Trioxane and any other solid fuel that you can find. I bet you can also use wood to cook using this stove as long as you chop the wood in small pieces.
